Outreach is important for Russia. The presence of advanced education and scientific and popular literature – a sign of a great power. And I must be a symbol, “marking” the activity. So obvious symbol is the Day of the Illuminator. I hope that one day he will become as popular event as the Knowledge Day and the Day of Cosmonautics.

What do we know about the first space flight? The most elementary: April 12, 1961 spaceship “Vostok” with a military pilot Yuri Gagarin on board was launched from the Baikonur Cosmodrome and after 108 minutes, having made a single-turn flight landed safely in a predetermined area. That is how the first flight were presented by Soviet propaganda. But is it really? Because of the total secrecy that surrounded the Soviet space program for years covered up the problem of the first flight, its parts, its real backstory. How risky was the flight? Why decades remained secret report by Yuri Gagarin? What were trying to hide the veil of propaganda? What impact has the policy of silence and outright lies? To all these questions, I will answer in a lecture at the Day of the Illuminator.

initiative to hold the Day of the Illuminator is wonderful, but at first I was told that the bottom line is that every scientist told off about what he was doing … It struck me as odd, yet if each of us has dedicated his life to a certain topic, it is interesting to hear what he would tell that he knows better than anyone else, and not about what he does not know. Because around us far more people who are not only on the day of the educator talk about what they do not know. But after looking into the program, I calmed down: all the great scientists who gather on November 16 to perform in different museums, expected to be based on the announced topics to talk about her. And that’s great! Topics my colleagues are fascinating that you can pre-envy those who will listen.
