1058 volunteers have completed the first stage of selection for the colonization of Mars mission - InFuture.ru - Feel the future!

Mars One announced that it was selected 1058 suitable volunteers, and you can move on to the next round of searches for people living and death on the Red Planet.

Dutch nonprofit project wants to start a run of four groups-”defectors” to Mars by 2023, with the long-term goal of creating the first permanent settlement on the Red Planet. More than 200 000 people struggled for a place in the list of Mars One, applications are accepted until August 31. The only requirement – volunteer must be 18 or older. Admitted to the next stage of selection have been notified by email.

Fighting for further participation in the mission will be 297 candidates from the United States, 75 from Canada, 62 from India, 52 from Russia and several people from many other countries, according to “stand the test of” 107 countries.

Almost 77% of the amount elected – adult working people, while about 15% – pupils and students. Almost 55% were male, and 357 people aged about 25 years, 415 – about 35, and only 26 applicants over 56 years. Most adult candidates underwent the second stage of selection, 81 years old.

Representatives Mars One said they plan to broadcast the selection of astronauts and the training process (and to raise funds for the mission) as a reality show. Bas Lansdorp (Bas Lansdorp), project director, said Monday that it is still negotiating with the media company for the rights to broadcast the activities of Mars One.

In December

Mars One introduced the first private plans unmanned mission to the Red Planet. With the experience of companies Lockheed Martin Space Systems and Surrey Satellite Technology Ltd, Mars One plans to send a robotic lander and companion to the Red Planet in 2018, to prepare for their manned missions.
