The revolutionary experiment in cloning a mammoth going to hold Russian scientists of the Siberian Federal University, together with colleagues from South Korea.

As the donor tissue, it was decided to use the material obtained from mammoth carcasses, which six months ago found in permafrost Siberian Islands. As told senior fellow North-Eastern Federal University Maxim Chaprasov – this mammoth lay in the purest ice and on the fabric it is best preserved. Of all the discoveries that have been made over the past 200 years, this pattern was recognized as the most suitable for cloning experiments, the scientist said.

Now, researchers are trying to decipher the genome of a mammoth – obtain biological information by which you can perform cloning. If this unique experiment is successful, then the living mammoth will be placed in the most suitable for him habitat – the Arctic.
