The representative of the press service and information of the Defense Ministry of the Navy Igor Dygalo told Tass that “Kanonersky Shipyard” finishes Repair oceanographic research vessel (OIC) “Admiral Vladimir in preparation for an expedition to Antarctica. Last Antarctic trek OIC “Admiral Vladimir” was carried out in 1982-1983 in cooperation with the OIC “Thaddeus Belinsgauzen.”

«Repair work on the ship and equipping of the OIC,” Admiral Vladimir “Hydrographic equipment for” Kanonersky Shipyard “launched March 17 and will be completed in mid-June. After that, the ship will take all steps necessary tests in the Baltic Sea “- said the agency. He said that according to the plans, the campaign will begin at the end of the year.

The representative of the Ministry of Defense reported that the campaign will go to representatives of the Main Department of Navigation and Oceanography of the Russian Defence Ministry, the Hydrographic Service of the Navy, researchers and scientists.

The aim of the expedition is to study the hydrographic proof marine and nautical charts, guides and manuals for navigation on a route march.
