Also at work were observed by representatives of the Patriarchate and the Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia, Alexander Bastrykin. All actions in the Peter and Paul Cathedral were recorded on video, photographing was conducted. After careful examination of the sarcophagus, experts concluded – no intrusion into the tomb in Soviet times was not.

– Yes, in the first survey conducted third day of November, were recorded shifts cover tombstones, chipped marble slabs, internal contamination. This has allowed to assume that after 1894 the tomb opened. But during the work it became clear – brick arch is intact, copper Ark locked shut, well preserved. Burial was not worried – says Vice-Governor of St. Petersburg Vladimir Kirillov.

On the same day, after removal of the remains of the emperor was made samples for subsequent genetic examination. In the near future the material will be sent to study in Moscow, where they will be engaged in several laboratories. The analysis will shed light on one of the major mysteries of the country’s history – you belong to the remains found in places of execution of Nicholas II, the last tsar and his family. Recall now the Romanov family is honored among the saints.

– The problem of the Russian Orthodox Church and historians – obtaining genetic samples of the remains of Alexander III and compare them with samples from the remains № 4. It was so neat I would prefer is expressed the remains of those who attribute to Nicholas II, – says Bishop Egoryevsky Tikhon (Shevkunov). – But in addition to the genetic analysis will be conducted anthropological and historical expertise. – From our point of view of history, we have done everything, but if the Russian Orthodox Church insists on further investigation, then why no. At one time the search was unprecedented, we have collected a huge database – several thousands of documents across the country, – the director of the State Archive of the Russian Federation Sergey Mironenko. – Maybe try one more time to see it, we will find something new. But usually require something like a telegram of Lenin. Who said that this order has been given in writing?

By the way, for the most objective investigation of the criminal case on the death of the royal family has been translated into the category of “critical.” The costs associated with the opening of the tomb of Alexander III and its subsequent restoration, will pay the federal budget. According to preliminary calculations, it will take 18 million rubles.
