Scientists have proven the effect of chocolate on mood – REGNUM

Canberra, 31 March 2016, 13:17 – REGNUM Australian scientists from Swinburne University of Technology conducted a clinical trial, to find out the impact of chocolate on the human body, according to Journal of Psychopharmacology.

Researchers have tried to find out the effect of cocoa polyphenols on mood and cognitive function. Within thirty experiment involved 72 volunteers of both sexes aged 40 to 65 years. Every day, they were given a chocolate drink with a different (from 0 to 500 mg) content of polyphenols.

Improvements in cognitive function have been identified, but test the mood changed for the better. Those who daily drank a chocolate drink with 500 mg of polyphenols, experienced the feeling of tranquility and satisfaction with life.

The subjects themselves rated their mood on a specially designed scale before and after the experiment. It is worth noting that researchers recognize such data is not very reliable. Scientists admit that the subjects feel happier just because it offers a product that brings them pleasure.
