Biologists: Bad cholesterol does not prevent live long – Rosbalt.RU

Individuals with high levels of so-called bad cholesterol on the live matter as long as their counterparts with low blood concentration of low density lipoproteins. This was reported by the American scientists who have analyzed past studies, which were attended by a total of 68 thousand people over 60 years.

Researchers questioned the hypothesis that people with high cholesterol have a higher risk of death from cardiovascular disease and should take statins to reduce the concentration of lipoproteins.

According to scientists, every work that they considered demonstrated a lack of communication between the “bad cholesterol” and death from cardiac and vascular function or an inverse correlation. This means that high levels of low density lipoproteins is often accompanied by a longer life. This can be explained by the fact that cholesterol may protect people from such neurological diseases such as Parkinson’s disease or Alzheimer’s disease.

In the future, the researchers plan to find out why the bad cholesterol is a risk factor for cardiovascular disease in young adults, but not in the elderly.

low density lipoprotein cholesterol are carriers, which is often referred to as “bad cholesterol” due to the fact that it is associated with risk of developing atherosclerosis. In contrast high density lipoproteins significantly reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease.
