MOSCOW, June 27 – RIA Novosti European astronomers got sverhdetalnye photos of Jupiter in the optical and thermal range, using the VLT telescope, the largest ground-based cosmic eye of the earth, the press service of the European southern Observatory

.. “These maps will help us to understand what he sees Juno probe in the first months of its work on Jupiter. Observations of planets at different wavelengths in the infrared part of the spectrum to help us get the “three-dimensional” image of how the circulation of energy and matter in the atmosphere of a giant planet, “- said Leigh Fletcher (Leigh Fletcher) from the University of Leicester (UK) Fletcher and his colleagues involved in the preparation of these photographs throughout the past year, submitted pictures to the next meeting of the Royal astronomical society of Great Britain, held in the British Nottingham this week.

As the researchers note, observations of Jupiter and other giant planets are extremely difficult to carry out, as a clear image interferes with the Earth’s atmosphere and dust particles contained in it. For this reason, astronomers have to use a number of tricks, such as the creation of “false” stars with the help of laser beams or “bonding” multiple images a single unit, to get a clear picture most mysterious objects in the solar system.

Fletcher and his colleagues managed not only to get clear of Jupiter pictures, but also to trace the movement of gas of clubs in its atmosphere, using a simple but very effective technique to improve image quality, which “invented” the owners of smartphones with poor cameras.

As the scientists explain, they received a few dozen pictures of different parts of Jupiter using the VLT, operating in burst mode, and chose from them only the best clear photos, and then combined them into a single image. Due to this, the European planetary scientists managed to get is the highest quality pictures of Jupiter before the arrival of Juno probe

Rendezvous probe with giant planet will take place very soon -. 4th of July. As hope Fletcher and his colleagues generated maps will help NASA to understand where best to learn the secrets of Jupiter’s atmosphere and other mysteries of the largest planet of the solar system.
